Indicative remuneration: $42–$48 per hour plus superannuation, depending on relevant experience, demonstrated skills and applicable classification. Pay will meet or exceed the applicable award minimum. Applicable penalties, overtime, allowances and other entitlements are additional.
Onyx Health Scarborough is seeking a capable, compassionate Registered Nurse to support comprehensive care for individuals and families in our community.

A typical day
You might start by checking treatment-room readiness and vaccine temperatures, then see a patient for a dressing, assist with a skin procedure, or support a health assessment. Later, you may provide vaccination advice, undertake authorised immunisations or follow up a patient whose chronic condition needs ongoing support.
The priorities will vary with patient needs. You will help coordinate nursing appointments, recognise when someone needs prompt medical review and keep clear records so the next team member can continue care safely.
Your responsibilities
Patient care and treatment-room nursing
Undertake nursing assessments, observations and prioritisation within your competence, recognising deterioration and escalating promptly.
Provide wound assessment and dressings, post-procedure care and suture removal where clinically appropriate.
Assist GPs with skin procedures and minor surgery, including preparation, aseptic technique and patient support.
Perform ECGs, spirometry and specimen collection where trained and competent.
Support urgent presentations and emergency responses within practice protocols and your scope.
Prevention, immunisation and chronic disease care
Administer vaccines and medicines under appropriate orders or authorisations and within Queensland requirements and your competence.
Maintain vaccine cold-chain monitoring, documentation, stock control and escalation of temperature excursions.
Support GP-led health assessments and chronic condition management, including observations, patient education, recalls and follow-up.
Contribute to accurate vaccination records and Australian Immunisation Register reporting as appropriate.
Encourage preventive care, check patient understanding and help people follow agreed care plans.
Follow up recalls and communicate clinician-reviewed results according to documented instructions and escalation protocols.
Safe systems and teamwork
Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and protect patient confidentiality.
Support infection prevention, equipment reprocessing where required, treatment-room readiness and clinical stock management.
Participate in accreditation preparation, incident reporting and quality improvement.
Coordinate with reception and clinicians to support appropriate appointment allocation and timely care.
Maintain registration, relevant competencies and continuing professional development, and seek support when a task is outside your scope.
What you will bring
Essential for this role
Current general registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia through AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, with registration status suitable for the duties.
A recognised nursing qualification underpinning RN registration, such as a Bachelor of Nursing or an accepted equivalent/registration pathway.
Current CPR/basic life support certification and competence in recognising and escalating deterioration.
Recent clinical nursing experience and demonstrated competence in assessment, wound care, infection prevention and safe medication administration.
Strong organisation, accurate documentation and confident communication with patients and colleagues.
Ability to prioritise nursing tasks, use clinical judgement within scope and recognise when to escalate.
Confidence with clinical software, or demonstrated ability to learn it.
A kind, culturally safe and respectful approach to care, and the ability to work collaboratively and within scope.
Australian work rights suitable for the position.
Highly regarded
Experience in Australian general practice or primary care.
An accredited immunisation qualification relevant to Queensland practice, plus current vaccination and cold-chain competence.
Experience with chronic condition support, health assessments and patient education.
Experience assisting with skin cancer procedures and minor surgery.
Best Practice software proficiency and familiarity with vaccination reporting.
ECG, spirometry, venepuncture and equipment-reprocessing competencies relevant to the role.
Experienced RNs from other clinical settings are welcome to apply where their skills transfer to general practice. Duties will be allocated according to verified competence, with induction and supervision needs agreed before commencement.
